This year we will start the march with a Voter Education Rally with the theme “It’s Our Time, It’s Our Vote”. Speakers will address Voter Suppression, Immigrant Rights, Economic and Environmental Justice, Criminal Justice and Healthcare. We celebrate the contributions made fifty years ago by Dr. King and others, but Dr. King’s dream is under attack by extremists who want to undo the progress we have made and take Alamance County backwards, not forward. The purpose of this rally and march will be the kick-off a mass voter registration and education movement in Alamance County.
Participants will begin gathering for the rally at 10:30 am, at Occasions, at 286 E Front St, Burlington, North Carolina. This March follows the MLK Coalition of Alamance County breakfast, also at Occasions.
The march will begin at 11:00 a.m and end around 12:00 pm, in 2.5 miles, at the North Park/Mayco Bigelow Community Center, at 849 Sharpe Road, Burlington, NC. After the march, there will be a program at North Park. Transportation will be available from Occasions to North Park, as well as back to Occasions. This event is free and open to the public.
