The North Carolina Branch of the NAACP held their 74th Annual State Convention from October 5th-7th. Six delegates from the Alamance County Branch were in attendance. Amongst the speakers were Rev. Jesse L Jackson, Sr., The Honorable Cory Booker and many more inspiring leaders. Voting took place on October 7th, and Rev. Dr. T Anthony Spearman was elected president of the State Branch. We look forward to working with Rev. Spearman and would like to thank Rev. Dr. William J. Barber, II for his work in the moral movement!

Amongst many inspiring civil rights advocates in attendance were, Civil Rights Atty. Al Mcsurely (left) who has spent more than 50 years advancing the cause of justice. He narrowly escaped death when 8 sticks of dynamite were thrown at the bedroom window of his Kentucky home. And Bob Zellner, the first white Field Secretary of the Student Non-violent Coordinating Committee (SNCC). He marched in Selma on “Bloody Sunday” 1965.

“Brotherhood and sisterhood is not so wild a dream as those who profit by postponing it pretend.” – Bob Zellner
